At Hartley Community Daycare Center (HCDC), we are dedicated to providing safe, affordable, and high-quality childcare that supports families in achieving their goals. Serving children from two weeks to twelve years old, we create a nurturing and enriching environment where young minds can grow, thrive, and develop. We are a private, non-profit, licensed center in the state of Iowa that is run by an executive director and overseen by a board of directors.

Our Mission
At Hartley Community Daycare Center (HCDC), our mission is to provide safe, affordable, and high-quality childcare that supports families in achieving their goals. We offer a comprehensive, cognitively-based program for children from two weeks to twelve years old, fostering their development in a nurturing environment.

As a program-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) center, we adhere to the highest standards by participating in the federally funded food program, complying with state licensing requirements, and following best practices. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our IQ4K rating within the state.

Our dedicated staff members are continuously enhancing their skills, completing 12 additional continuing education credits annually, and participating in the state TEACH program to pursue degrees in early childhood education. We take pride in our knowledgeable, caring, and well-trained team, who are committed to creating a safe and enriching learning environment for the children in our community.

What We Offer
Our curriculum is tailored to each age group, integrating play-based learning, sensory exploration, and thematic studies to spark curiosity and inspire discovery. Through the Experience Curriculum Framework, children engage in activities that nurture 35 developmental skills across key domains, including social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language growth.

Supporting Diversity and Inclusion
Our center celebrates cultural diversity and works to create an environment where all families feel welcomed. We expose children to various cultural traditions and perspectives through diverse books, inclusive play materials, and bilingual education. We encourage families to share their customs and values, ensuring our program reflects and respects the unique needs of our community.

Family Partnerships
HCDC thrives on collaboration with families. We hold regular conferences to share each child’s developmental progress and create individualized goals for their growth. Parents are also invited to join our Parents of the Daycare (POD) advisory group, strengthening our community relationships through fundraising and program support.
